About the Job
Founded by Datuk Nicol David and Mariana de Reyes, the organisation will be launched in June 2022 and based in Bukit Jalil. The objective is to empower girls and boys through sport and education. For this we created the “Little Legends” programme that supports B40 and M40 children with an after-school programme that includes: Squash training, English tutoring and life-skill workshops. The children entering the programme will be selected from public schools pertaining the areas of Bukit Jalil and Sri Petaling. To support parents financially, the programme is subsidised to allow everyone and anyone to join. The entry point will be for children 8 years old and they will have a 5-year journey in the programme until they enter secondary.
Job role
In NDO, we believe in giving work opportunities for university students that want to work on a part time basis during their studies. We have seen how passionate the youth is about giving back and work purpose driven organisations. This is why, we want to give students who have English proficiency to work in teaching our children beneficiaries and we will secure their adequate to do so. We have partnered with the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and with our English Teacher expert we will prepare and train these passionate students that want to embark on this give back journey.
Our English teacher will be the heart of the NDO team. The role will teach our children the English language by following the lesson plans given by our English Teacher expert. They will have first-hand experience of seeing the development of the children and support and encourage them to be the best potential they can be. In addition, working closely and collaboratively with the Executive team to provide feedback of the lessons and the day-to-day activities.
Responsibilities
• Actively attend all Train the Trainers Workshop
• Teach basic English skills including reading, writing, listening and speaking.
• Fill in reporting forms of children’s progress provided by Executive Team.
• Execute lesson plans provided by the English Teacher Expert
• Provide feedback to the lesson plans.
• Engage students to ensure a lively classroom atmosphere.
• Teach students the correct pronunciation of words.
